Join staff from the 9/11 Memorial & Museum for an engaging presentation highlighting resources available to libraries, educators, and community organizations. Attendees will learn about Inside the Collection, the Museum’s online collection catalog, and hear from members of the Exhibitions, Education, and Institutional Advancement departments about the poster exhibition September 11, 2001: The Day That Changed the World, the annual Digital Learning Experience (DLE), and the Museum’s library pass program. Discover how these resources can support programming, education, and community engagement efforts to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 this September.
Presenters: Stephanie Schmeling is the Head of Cataloging and Archives at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. She earned a B.A. in History from Cornell College and an M.A. in Archives and Public History from New York University. With more than fifteen years at the Museum, she has played a key role in the stewardship, cataloging, and accessibility of its extensive collections. Throughout her tenure, she has contributed significantly to the preservation and accessibility of collection materials, including overseeing the Museum’s online catalog, Inside the Collection. David Bennett is the Director of Membership & Annual Giving at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, where he leads the institution's membership program and supports mission-driven initiatives that advance remembrance, education, and public engagement. With more than 15 years of experience in membership, fundraising, and constituent engagement, David focuses on building meaningful relationships that strengthen support for the Museum's mission and ensure its continued impact for future generations. He has been with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum for the past four years. Noah Rauch is Senior Vice President for Education & Public Programs at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, where he oversees the Museum’s educational, interpretive, public, and professional programs. He has worked on the project since 2010 and was a senior member of the team that conceived, planned, and implemented the inaugural education and interpretive programming for the institution. Previously, Rauch managed grants for the Center for Informal Learning and Schools at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, and worked in the education departments at the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles and the Brooklyn Museum of Art. He received an Ed.M in Arts-in-Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a BA in American Studies from Wesleyan University. Ian Kerrigan is the Senior Vice President for Exhibitions at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City where he oversees interpretive planning and research, design and installation, media production and digital development, and exhibition project management for the institution. Ian completed his undergraduate studies in anthropology at Northwestern University and earned his master’s degree in anthropology at The George Washington University. He teaches exhibition planning and design in the graduate Museum Studies Program at New York University and is the managing editor for the journal Exhibition that is published by the American Association of Museums. Bethany Romanowski is Vice President, Collections Management at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum where she oversees collections management policy and implementation. She has 20 years’ experience managing collections at New York City institutions, including the South Street Seaport Museum and the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. She holds a B.A. in anthropology from Indiana University and an M.A. in social sciences from the University of Chicago. Code of Conduct
