SCRUM and Project Management for Collections

Through examples and case studies from the presenter’s experience, this mini workshop will introduce project management concepts and techniques as applied to e-resource management and collaborative collections work. After an introductory presentation, participants are invited to complete a project management worksheet and/or questionnaire and then explore the topic further in small groups.

Questions explored include:

  • What is project management and what are some example methods and tools (e.g., Scrum)?
  • Building on traditional project management techniques and methods, what practices recognize that humans are doing the work, and honor human nature and needs and successful project completion?
  • What individual practices can each person do that builds trust, governance, communication, and kindness and thus enables successful project collaboration – especially across an organization’s hierarchy and areas of expertise?
  • How do participants imagine applying one thing from the presentation to their work or home lives?
