Bridging the Long Island Library Community
We will focus on the characteristics of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and proactive intervention approaches designed to meet the special needs of this population.
You will learn to identify early signs of autism spectrum disorder, understand the characteristics of this disorder, associated features, its history, current statistics and known risk factors.
Next we will discuss common features of ASD that can impact functioning and common best practices to reduce behavior problems.
Finally, we will review specific techniques to offer more inclusive services and heighten library staff awareness of issues related to the autism community and to empower them to provide better service to this growing population
