Bridging the Long Island Library Community
An employee handbook is an effective tool to communicate the employer’s expectations to the workforce. It provides a comprehensive guide to the employer’s mission, culture, policies and practices in a centralized source. In Part II of the employee handbook series of workshop held in February, the critical components of the handbook was examined, a guided analysis of drafting and language issues and scenarios that are encountered in today’s workplace when formulating a well-crafted handbook were covered. This Part III of the series will focus on analyzing actual library handbooks to provide drafting guidance and to focus on library centric issues.
