Chris Jelley, Head of Technology at the North Merrick Public Library, demonstrated how he saved his library money by having his OPACs run off of Raspberry Pi computers instead of PC computers at the "Raspberry Pi for the Techie" workshop held on August 30th.  Chris also showed the participants how he was able to create and run "headache free" digital signage with Raspberry Pi.

In addition, the following topics were covered as well:

  • Getting staff/community buy in;
  • How to keep Raspberry Pi secure/updated;
  • Costs and cost benefits;
  • User experience; and
  • Realities of mixed OS environments.
