Job Title: Part-Time Librarian I or Trainee for Teen Services
The Longwood Public Library is seeking a creative and enthusiastic librarian to join the staff of our Teen Services Department! The successful candidate will possess the unique skills needed to work with teens in a busy public library, including but not limited to: intellectual curiosity, a strong interest in working with teens, exceptional group management skills, patience and kindness.
Planning programs and community service opportunities designed to encourage the use of the library by teens. Our part-time librarians are an integral part of our Teen Services Department and we encourage them to propose and facilitate crafts, activities and events throughout the year. We need you to bring your ideas to the table and be willing to try new things!
Assisting Teens with computer use (knowledge of Publisher and Word essential) and demonstrating and promoting the library’s digital services.
Assisting with our three different Battle of the Books programs. We love Battle of the Books here at Longwood and expect all of our Teen Services Librarians to be actively involved with this program by reading potential titles throughout the year, writing practice questions and coaching our various teams.
Knowledge of current literature for teens and the willingness to read YA books on an ongoing basis to remain current.
Maximum of 17.5 hours per week which will include daytime and evening hours and a weekend rotation. Friday evenings will be part of the schedule.
Librarian Trainee $23.25 per hour
Librarian: $26.25 per hour
