About Farmingdale State College:

Farmingdale State is a public college of applied science and technology with an enrollment of more than 9,200 undergraduate and graduate students and a rich history of over 80,000 graduates. Job Description:

Greenley Library at Farmingdale State College is accepting applications for a leave replacement Part-Time Reference librarian.

The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service and reference assistance to students and faculty members in finding library materials, using the library's online resources, and citing sources. Responsibilities include: assisting in-person patrons, answering the reference desk phone and tracking patron statistics. Position includes closing the library.  May teach an occasional library research class.

Shift available:

Spring 2019 hours vary:

March 25, April 1, April 8, and April 15 the hours will be 5:00pm-11:00pm
April 22, April 29, May 6, and May 13 the hours will be 5:00pm-12:00am

Summer 2019 hours 5:00pm-11:00pm:

June 3, 10, 17, 24
July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
August 5, 12, 19

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

MLS from an ALA accredited institution. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in an academic library, knowledge of college-level reference services and resources.
