Part-Time Youth Services Librarian/Librarian Trainee - Brentwood Public Library

The Brentwood Public Library is seeking a part-time librarian or trainee to join our busy Youth Services Department serving children from birth through age 12 and teens ages 13 through 18.

This position is for up to 17.5 hours. Availability on Monday and Tuesday evenings is ideal. Evening and Saturday availability is required.

Skills and abilities should include:

  • Desire to work with children and teens
  • Understanding of current and emerging library technologies
  • Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities:

  • Assist patrons in the use of the library and its resources
  • Perform readers’ advisory for children, their caregivers, and teens
  • Conduct programs for children and teens
  • Participate in community outreach
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • MLS from an ALA-accredited library school with 12 credits of coursework in youth services
  • Trainee applicants must be currently enrolled in an ALA-accredited library school

Salary:

  • Librarian I, $32.63 per hour
  • Librarian Trainee, $28.80 per hour
  • Librarian Trainee over 24 credits, $30.50 per hour
