Part-Time Librarian/ PT Librarian Trainee for a Youth Services - West Babylon Public Library

Qualifications: 

  • Ability to provide outstanding reference, reader’s advisory, and referral services  to children, teens and families 
  • Experience in conducting programs and developing collections for the Youth  Services population, specifically Teen and Tweens 
  • Assist with our Battle of the Books programs 
  • Promotion and demonstration of library services through community outreach.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills 
  • Exhibit a positive attitude towards patrons and coworkers 
  • Willingness to work as a team member  
  • Staff a busy Adult and Children’s Reference Desk 
  • Applicant must have an MLS from an accredited Library School with at least 12  credits of Children’s classes and a valid New York State Public Librarian  Certificate OR 
  • Applicant must be actively enrolled in an accredited MLS program to be  considered for a Librarian Trainee position. 

Schedule: 

  • Ability to work 17 hours weekly that includes evenings and weekend shifts 
  • Flexibility is needed 

Salary

  • Librarian Trainee Salary starting at $28.54 and increasing depending on number of credits 
  • P/T Librarian $32.03 hourly
