Full Time Youth Services Librarian, Librarian Trainee or Library Assistant - Westhampton Free Library

The Westhampton Free Library seeks an energetic, service-oriented, child-centered professional to join Youth Services. The successful candidate should enjoy interacting with the public and have a strong interest and knowledge of children and their developmental stages. 


  • Strong desire to work with children and their caregivers 
  • Strong customer service skills 
  • Strong technology skills, including digital library services 
  • Knowledge of children’s literature 
  • Time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously


  • Provide reference, research and reader’s advisory 
  • Develop and conduct programs for ages Birth through grade 6 
  • Plans and participates in liaison activities with community 
  • Prepare exhibits, displays and publicity materials 
  • Other duties as assigned 


  • Master’s Degree in Library Science(MLS), or enrolled in an ALA accredited Library Science program, or Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Minimum of one(1) year experience working with children in a library or school setting 
  • Flexibility to work mornings, afternoons and weekends. 35 Hours per week Union Eligible 

Salary commensurate with experience
