CHARGE
The mission of the Documentary Heritage Program Committee of the Long Island Library Resources Council is to strengthen documentary and historical programs (i.e., archives, manuscripts, and local history collections) in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
The Committee will assess regional conditions and needs, and recommend regional objectives, priorities, and strategies in conjunction with New York State's Documentary Heritage Program (DHP).
As part of its mission, the Committee will:
- Publicize and encourage support for the State's Documentary Heritage Program.
- Provide support to the Regional Archivist under the Documentary Heritage Program.
- Provide public information on historical records programs.
- Advocate improvement of the historical documentation of Long island.
